About the Author: Todd Miller

Todd Miller founded the federation in 1982 and has directed its operations since then. He is a coastal North Carolina native and holds an undergraduate degree in environmental sciences and a masters degree in city and regional planning, both from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He received The Old North State Award from the governor in 2007 and the 2011 National Wetlands Award as a community leader from the Environmental Law Institute. He serves on the Board of Visitors for the UNC Institute of the Environment and as a founding board member of Restore America’s Estuaries. He lives with his wife, Julie, and their two sons in Carteret County.
