Who doesn’t love a stunning photo of the sun setting over the ocean or behind a mountain? The prominent colors that accompany any given sunset are hard to find anywhere else in nature. But how stunning are those same sunsets when captured on black and white film?  To me, they can be just as spectacular.  When color is removed from a photo, the focus becomes the subject itself.  The strong lines and textures of the subject, as well as the shadows created by the contrasting light that were once lost behind the flashes of color are now the prominent feature of the photo. Monochrome images can create a new perspective on familiar subjects, so try a new perspective. See the coast in black and white in our new Photo Gallery.
