Wish List
Got any good stuff filling the attic or garage? We may need it. Check out the list
of items we need that our staff has come up with. Certainly, you must
have a toaster oven, vacuum cleaner or slightly dog-eared copy of The Song of the Dodo that we can use?

OCEAN – The N.C. Coastal Federation needs some help furnishing a
building on a recently donated farm that student interns will use for
housing.
The federation is seeking financial donations or housing items such
as bed frames, sofa beds, dressers, futon, area rugs and floor lamps
that will be used on the farm of the late Theodore M. Miller in Ocean in
Carteret County.

Ted Miller |
Miller’s family donated 3.5-acre tract known as Earth-Wise Farm
to the federation. Miller grew fruits, vegetables and grains that were
pesticide and herbicide free. A good portion of his produce was donated
to local charities.
The farm will allow the federation to explore options that can
support its restoration, education and internship programs. The property
includes a building that will be used educational workshops and
retreats and housing for student interns.
The federation is evaluating ideas on ways to use the property that
will involve and engage people while promoting awareness of the
federation and the coastal issues it is working to address. These ideas
include a native plant garden, aquaculture demonstration projects,
community and school garden allotments, butterfly garden and apiary
site.
Anyone interested in donating money or items for the student housing
or have an interest in the proposed uses of the farm can contact Sam
Bland at 252-354-8185 or email him.
