Carteret County Beach Commission Monday approved a maximum $24,900 contract with Raleigh engineering firm Moffatt and Nichol that pays for the company to work on a permit modification to allow the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) to place beach-quality sand dredged from the harbor project on the 1.4-mile stretch of beach in Emerald Isle instead of dumping the sand offshore.
