Glenn Blackburn, professor emeritus of history at University of Virginia’s College at Wise, has completed a history of the North Carolina Coastal Federation based upon hundreds of interviews he conducted with people who have been key players in shaping our coast. We are proud to offer an online version of Blackburn’s book Saving Great Places, an historical account of the men and women who fought to protect and the coastal waters of North Carolina. Full interviews are on file at the UNC-Wilmington Randall Library as part of a special collection of Coastal Federation papers.
