On Thursday, February 19, the federation and other members of the Lower Cape Fear Stewardship Development Coalition recognized development projects in Brunswick, New Hanover and Pender Counties for their environmental stewardship at the 2015 Annual Lower Cape Fear Stewardship Development Awards Luncheon. Civic leaders, development professionals, planners and community members gathered at the Terraces on Sir Tyler to celebrate the award recipients and regional stewardship champions.
The Lower Cape Fear Stewardship Development Awards Program honors residential, commercial and public development projects that demonstrate outstanding environmental stewardship through the protection, conservation, improvement and awareness of our natural resources. The federation is a governing council member of the awards program and helped plan the event. This year’s winners include: the Cape Fear Community College Union Station, Wilmington; River Bluffs, Castle Hayne; Old Topsail High School, Hampstead; Hackney Dental Office, Wilmington and Westgate Nature Park, Leland.
