In December we celebrated our volunteers, who are some of the most wonderful people we get to work with. They make our work possible and brighten our days in the process. Thank you to all of those who have come out to shovel oyster shells, plant marsh grass, carry oyster bags and more.
Our Wanchese office hosted a luncheon on Dec. 2, where staff served lunch and put together a slideshow of photos of the volunteers. Cafe Lachine catered soup, salad and chili. Staff also served steamed crabs and shrimp, and one of the volunteers, Joseph Andrews, donated and steamed a bushel of oysters for the party. About 25 volunteers attended the party.
Staff from our Ocean office made eight slow cookers’ worth of chili, served with corn bread and oysters steamed at the office. Attendees also enjoyed homemade desserts. About 65 volunteers and supporters showed up on Dec. 2, and staff decorated the back office with holiday decor and set up a photo slideshow.
Our Wrightsville Beach office hosted about 45 volunteers on the evening of Dec. 5, and staff set up slow cookers with meatballs, spinach dip and queso along with chips, cheese platters and desserts. They also set up decorations for the holidays and thanked their volunteers for their help.
Again, thank you to everyone who has volunteered and supported our work this year. We wish you all a very happy holiday season!
