Debris Free NC Workshop: 5-Year Update of the N.C. Marine Debris Action Plan

Content: Review accomplishments associated with the 2020-2024 N.C. Marine Debris Action Plan and participate in activities and discussions that will shape the 2025-2029 Action Plan. As this is a multiple-stakeholder effort, please come prepared to participate and play an active role in the workshop. Coffee, a light breakfast, snacks, and lunch will be provided.
Who Should Attend?
Non-government, government, industry and academic representatives with an active interest in addressing marine debris in coastal North Carolina. The following are topic areas in which participants may have interest and/or expertise:
- Removal and/or disposal of debris, including abandoned and derelict vessels
- Identification of problem debris areas
- Recruiting and/or managing volunteers
- Developing policy or laws (or interested in pursuing)
- Waste management
- Developing and or implementing best management practices
- Rewarding organizations/businesses for implementing best management practices/reduction strategies
- Research and technology
- Outreach and education (formal and non-formal educators)
- Advocacy
- Regulatory
- Wildlife rescue and/or rehabilitation (under permit only)
