Nursery Marsh Planting at North River Wetlands Preserve

May 22 @ 9:30 am – 1:00 pm
Join us in planting a new Nursery Marsh out at North River Wetlands Preserve! This one-acre marsh will serve as a “Mother Marsh” for future restoration projects along the coast.
As the marsh matures, the Federation will harvest plants sustainably to safeguard and perpetuate the health of the created marsh. This will help supply plants for additional marsh restoration projects. The marsh is a first-of-its-kind plant nursery in North Carolina that can hopefully be replicated by commercial nurseries in the future.
Volunteers will meet at the North River Wetlands Preserve gate by 9:30 a.m., on the day they registered for, and should wear weather-appropriate clothes that can get wet and dirty. Closed-toe shoes that cover the foot are required. Volunteers should also bring a water bottle, hat, sunglasses and any medications they may need. Snacks, water, sunscreen, bug spray, gloves and planting tools will be provided.
This event has a limited capacity, registration is required.
