Pollinator Garden Maintenance
November 19 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Help the North Carolina Coastal Federation staff and volunteers maintain and replant the pollinator garden at Alderman Elementary School in Wilmington. This project is part of the Bradley and Hewletts Creeks Watershed Restoration Plan and is aimed at reducing polluted runoff that flows into the creeks. Rain gardens and wetlands play a crucial role in filtering runoff, protecting water quality, preventing swim advisories and shellfish closures, reducing flood risks, and providing wildlife habitats.
Volunteers will pull weeds, prune, spread mulch, and plant native pollinators in the existing pollinator garden. All tools, supplies, snacks, and refreshments will be provided. This event is open to the public and suitable for all ages. Whether you want to get your hands dirty or simply learn how to protect your local creeks, join us for a fun, educational day! The pollinator garden also serves as a living classroom for students to learn about the importance of native plants and pollinators.
This project is made possible through the generous support of the Cape Fear Garden Club and the Landfall Foundation.
