Discover the latest research findings and policy proposals from the American Futures Institute (AFI) team in collaboration with the North Carolina Coastal Federation (NCCF). Meet the passionate AFI students—Tamsin, Anastasia, Conner, and Katherine—hailing from diverse backgrounds but united in their dedication to environmental advocacy. Learn about their ideas for state policy action to address pressing coastal challenges, including erosion and debris management. Delve into their proposed solutions, such as assigning financial responsibility for cleanup to homeowners and advocating for increased state funding for beach nourishment projects. Engage with the next generation of environmental leaders during their virtual presentation on May 24 from 9 am – 10:30 a.m.
